Alright, bringing something new to the blog – social media tips! I work primarily online, especially on social media platforms and so I’ve learned a thing or two about building a brand online . A big component of that is content creation, which I personally love, but I know it can be overwhelming for some!! That being said, I want to share with you my top tips on how to make content creation simple, easy and stress free!
1. Plan Out Your Content in Advance
Planning anything in advance always makes life so much easier, including your content! Something that I’ve started doing over the past few months is setting aside a couple hours on the weekend to plan out my posts and captions for the week. Since I post on multiple platforms, it can be overwhelming sometimes trying to decide what to post on the day of.
What I’ve started doing is sitting down every Sunday morning with my planner and taking some time to decide what I am going to post on my feed on Instagram and Facebook, as well as what I want to put in my stories. Of course, some of your stories will happen in the moment which is totally fine, but it’s more to plan out some of your static stories.
I like to plan on a weekly basis, but if you’re really keen, you can sit down and plan out all of your content for the month, which is a huge time saver.
2. Batch Content – Photos
Alright this is probably the most FUN because loosely translated, batch contenting photos = PHOTOSHOOT. Well I mean if you like taking pictures than it’s fun… otherwise it could be a chore (you’ll learn to like it).
Ok so essentially what this one is, is you pick a day where you’re going to do a mini photoshoot. These are always fun to do with friends (and a little easier) but you can also go solo with a tripod. The purpose of this is to go to multiple places with multiple outfits so that you have a bunch of photos for your content. Because you’re going to multiple places and changing outfits, it will seem like you took them on separate days.
Now you may be thinking, “omg won’t that take forever – changing outfits and all that.” My answer to that – it’s a heck of lot shorter to take a bunch of photos on one day instead of having to constantly take photos all the time. Also, running out of photos is not fun – I know from experience. So pick a day in the month where you can make a day out of it!
3. Batch Content – Captions
Ok lets be real – when we post something, we want our post to have value, and that usually comes from the caption. I know from experience that whipping up a caption 5 mins before you were wanting to post is usually not the best way to do that. Similar to with the photos, I find it helpful to plan out my captions in advance.
To be honest this is probably the one I struggle with just because sometimes I’m not exactly sure what I want to say right then when I’m planning. A helpful tip for creating captions in advance is to write out jot notes along the lines of what you want to talk about. That way, you can fill it in easily when you’re ready to post.
4. Repurpose Content
My last tip is repurposing content – this one is a GOLD MINE. With this one, you can turn one piece of content into multiple which is a huge time saver. Here are some examples of how you can repurpose your content:
Blog Post -> Instagram Post
Live Video – Blog Post -> Instagram Post
Instagram Post -> Instagram Story
Blog Post -> Instagram Post -> Tweet
Those are just a few examples, but you can repurpose content in so many other ways! Essentially the idea is to take the main piece of content (or idea) and turn that content to fit the format of your other platforms that you post on.
You can also repurpose content through using posts from a few months ago, and repost that. Of course, you can change the verbiage a little bit – but there will always be people who didn’t see your post and since your content all revolves around certain topics, it will be valuable to share it again.
That’s a wrap on my top tips for content creation. I hope they were helpful and happy creating!!
